Book Review - Pirate Lattitudes

I have just finished 'Pirate Lattitudes' by Michael Crichton: An excellent read if you are a fan - not quite to the standard of his previous work, but understandable under the circumstances of its publishing.

In terms of genre, the book is new territory for Michael whose works tended to be along the lines of sci-fi / thriller. However, thanks to his classis attention to detail and ability to paint such a vivid picture in your head, i believe he pulls it off well.

Overall Pirate Lattitudes is rather 'Pirates of the Carriabean' esque but in my eyes better than the disney box office hit. A fun read that will entertain anyone willing to give it a try.

Crichton does seem to have a real talent for leaving you with a lasting impression. I still remember vividly some of the chapters in Timeline, which is one of his great sci-fi thriller reads. I’m intrigued with this new venture into a pirate’s life. I think it’s great when authors’ leave the comfort zone of their genre. It adds a whole new dynamic to the writer’s style.
